The decision to migrate was made after Muslims faced severe oppression, including torture and social boycotts, for their beliefs in the Oneness of God preached by Prophet Muhammad.<br/><br/>The group, consisting of early Muslims including some of Muhammad's closest companions, embarked on a perilous journey across the Red Sea, seeking asylum in Abyssinia. Their journey highlights the lengths to which they were willing to go to safeguard their faith and freedom of worship. Upon reaching Abyssinia, they were warmly received by Negus, who listened to their case presented by Ja'far ibn Abi Talib. He granted them protection, refusing to hand them over to their Meccan persecutors.<br/><br/>This event underscores the significance of seeking refuge in times of persecution and the importance of religious tolerance. It also highlights the early diplomatic relations between Muslims and Christians, as Negus' protection of the Muslim refugees demonstrates compassion and respect for religious differences. The Second Hijra served as a pivotal moment in the history of Islam, allowing the fledgling Muslim community to survive and thrive in a safe haven until conditions improved in Mecca, enabling their eventual return.")
