Nearly half of the UK’s pets now have their own dedicated room where they can relax in peace and store their belongings, research has revealed.

A poll, of 2,000 cat and dog owners, found 48 per cent have a reserved room for their pets or a space in the garden.

Just over half (55 per cent) want them to have their own 'chill out' area, while 34 per cent want to ensure maximum comfort.

And 30 per cent want all their possessions kept in one place.

But for 18 per cent, its sole purpose is so their stuff doesn’t take up space in the rest of the home.

It also emerged 46 per cent of pet owners have designed their home around their pet, although 21 per cent admitted they are unlikely to buy items to appease their furry friend that don’t match their interior style.

The study was commissioned by Homesense - part of the TK Maxx family - which has partnered with Kelly Brook, to launch a pet and interiors content series ‘Barkitectural Digest’.

In the style of a high-end home interior magazine, Kelly and her beloved pup, Teddy, grace the pages in a luxury home decked out with more affordable homeware and pet products to spread inspiration for other pet owners.

Kelly Brook said: “I adore Teddy. He’s family and a big part of my life he is, so it’s no surprise that there are elements in my home designed around him.

“It turns out I’m not the only one, and I am thrilled to help inspire others to design their perfect home and pet haven.”

The study also found of those who have designed their home around their pet, top changes included moving delicate things higher up (29 per cent), adding a cat flap (21 per cent) and installing a garden fence (20 per cent).

Others have replaced carpets with hard floors (16 per cent) or bought scratch proof furniture (11 per cent), while nine per cent have even chosen dark furnishings to disguise pet hair.

Nearly one in five (17 per cent) have installed baby gates to stop wandering cats and dogs and 19 per cent have covered up pet inflicted damage with blankets.

However, 38 per cent don’t believe there is enough inspiration available to help stylishly decorate their home with their pet in mind.

And 75 per cent struggle to find pet products that are good quality and reasonably priced.

The research, carried out via OnePoll, found owning an animal has been more expensive than expected for 41 per cent, with insurance and food among the costs that surprised them most.

While 15 per cent claim they spend more on their cat or dog than they do on their children, holidays and their car, with the average owner spending £708 on their furry friend a year.

As a result, 59 per cent have had to compromise on pet products due to their cost - especially on food, toys and beds.

A Homesense spokesperson added: “We’re a nation of animal lovers, and we believe you should never have to compromise when it comes to your pets.\

After eight minutes, Jurrien Timber had already sunk the ball into the top right corner.

His Blackburn Under-21 opponents looked stunned. His young colleagues looked in awe.

It had been 254 days since the Dutch full-back had last stepped on a pitch after suffering damage to the ACL ligament in his knee against Nottingham Forest on August 12.

No one imagined as the 22-year-old trudged off the pitch of Arsenal's first Premier League game of the season, that it would be another eight months before he would re-appear.

Further still, not many expected Timber to return to such aplomb on just his first appearance, playing for the Arsenal Under-21s.

He wore his usual number 12 shirt, despite the academy typically using numbers 1 to 11 for the line-up. Special players, special measures.

He received the ball on the edge of the box. A jink to his right opened the body to unleash a curling shot, brushing the bar and landing in the net.

It was a finish that would not have looked out of place in a first-team match in the title run-in, never mind the academy side.

This backdrop made Timber's strike all the more impressive, and a reminder as to why the Gunners have so badly wanted their £38.5million man back.

Earlier in the half, on one minute and five seconds, Timber received his first touch. Applause broke out.

He started at left-back and found himself in advanced positions from midfield, inverting centrally in the manner of Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Timber's gliding forward was more advanced than expected. Under Mikel Arteta, that will likely be more tempered.

Timber made himself available around the box on several occasions, pressing into attacking positions. He had another crack at goal from outside the area and parried out for a corner on 24 minutes.

After the half-hour mark, Timber gradually slowed down, readjusting to the pace of a match. This was expected after such a long absence.

Caution is needed. An appearance after an eight-month injury layoff is a start, but not necessarily an indication Timber is fully fit to start in the first team just yet.

His reintroduction will need to be managed carefully, even though getting him back as soon as possible will be craved. He was substituted at half-time in a wise decision, as there's no rush with the season reaching its close.

But you can see why the north London club is relishing his full return.

You only have to look at the left-back slot. Oleksandr Zinchenko is impressive in advancing play forward but occasionally fallible in defensive scenarios; Jakub Kiwior has grown as the season has gone on but still has more development to go; Takehiro Tomiyasu is their best defensive choice at present but is injury-prone.

A fully-fit Timber slots right into the starting XI.

So yes, a very exciting return, and one which showed glimpses of why the Gunners so relish his full return - but still more runouts are needed before Timber can be properly called upon.

The Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) traumas are the most common among dogs. The untreated ligament injuries may lead to the rupture of other limbs causing and spreading damage to the surrounding structure. nThis instability can result in arthritis and many other deadly bone deformities. Generally, the complex yet rapid Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) Implant is preferred for the treatment and may help to prevent damage further. nTTA is done with different but better stabilization but surely
