A slow start to Game 3 in the first round of the Western Conference playoff series turned into a chippy battle. The Dallas Mavericks came away with their second win of the series over the Los Angeles Clippers 101-85.

The Mavericks had five players finish the night in double figures with leading scorer Luka Dončić’ ending the night with 22 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and two steals.

Despite the Clippers holding a slim advantage in the second half, thanks to leading scorer James Harden, the Mavericks managed to overcome Los Angeles. Luka Dončić played a pivotal role, in the second quarter, where he found his rhythm from beyond the arc.

Dončić’s three-point shooting spree gave the Mavericks a slim two-point lead, 34-32, with 7:36 remaining in the second quarter. Dallas then extended their lead to 41-34 with over five minutes left in the quarter, with notable contributions from P.J. Washington and second-leading scorer Dereck Lively II.

The chemistry between Lively and Kyrie Irving was evident on the court, as Irving set up a lob for Lively, who completed the dunk.

Head coach Jason Kidd said the lob was huge for his team tonight, especially with their emphasis on getting in the paint.

“In the first half we had ten and in the first three games you would think that is the total we have,” said Kidd. “I told Ky [Kyrie Irving] he had a career-high of lobs and he was really in tune with D-Live [Dereck Lively II]. Just being able to get to the paint and the late pass, the lob was big for us.”

Not only did the Mavericks receive assistance on the offensive end, but their defense also shined, tallying seven blocks and eleven steals for the night. The Clippers attempted to alter their defensive strategies to challenge Dallas, but the Mavericks remained steadfast, heading into the locker room with a 54-41 lead.

The second half began with Kyrie Irving draining a deep three-pointer, setting the tone for the remainder of the game. Irving played a crucial role during a two-minute scoring drought late in the third quarter, sinking a pivotal three-pointer that extended Dallas’s lead to 73-62 with 1:16 remaining in the third quarter.

As the game reached its conclusion, tensions rose, resulting in a skirmish involving Washington, Terance Mann, and later Russell Westbrook. However, even this scuffle couldn’t disrupt Dallas’s offensive momentum. Washington was ejected from the game with six minutes remaining, with Dallas maintaining a comfortable 91-75 lead. Dallas added 10 more points to come away with the 16-point victory.

With a second series win under their belt, Kidd is hopeful that his team knows what they need to do to continue this momentum into Game 4. These two teams will face one another this Sunday in American Airlines Center. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.

Tenby-born artist Rachel Rasmussen is looking forward to staging her first ever debut solo exhibition in Tenby at the seaside town’s Museum and Art Gallery.
Daughter to Christine and Peter Brown, Rachel’s inspiration started at school. She invites her old art teachers from Ysgol Greenhill and St Teilos, and any others who knew her growing up as a child, to the exhibition, on display from May 3 to June 16.
“I’m so excited to finally share my artwork in such a professional platform, in a beautiful historic spot, Tenby Museum and Art Gallery,” said Rachel.
“I visited the museum many times as a child; overlooked the best beach I played on every summer growing up. We’d run from school straight to the beach and if it started raining we’d either run to the Dennis cafe or take a trip to the museum.
“It’s so nice to finally hold a special exhibition in such a special place. That’s why it’s called ‘Tenby Treasures, Nostalgic Brushstrokes’.”
‘Tenby Treasures: Nostalgic Brushstrokes’ will mark Rachel’s first solo exhibition in her home town of Tenby.
Rachel’s work is a reflection of what she loves most about nature. Painting seascapes and landscapes, capturing dramatic skies, evocative reflections with attention to detail. Recently, painting pebbles has become a trademark of hers.
Rachel, who was born and brought up in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, became a self-taught artist at an early age. Drawing from the beauty on her doorstep, Rachel loves to paint the South Wales coastline. She hopes to create a feeling of nostalgia for those who view her work.
Rachel now resides in Cardiff, with her husband and four children. As well as being a full-time mother, she chases spare time painting, teaching classes and exhibiting her work. She took part in the Channel 5 series Watercolour Challenge. Last Christmas she returned to Tenby to hold two paint-along sessions, one for adults and one for the whole family.
You can meet Rachel and talk about her work at the preview evening, May 11, 6-7pm.

Márton Nemes: Techno Zen / Hungarian Pavilion at Venice Art Biennale 2024. April 19, 204.
Official description: Márton Nemes’ work is influenced by techno subcultures; the explosion and rearrangement of the pictorial field gives a psychedelic character to his abstract paintings that evoke the visual atmosphere of nightclubs. Combining painterly and sculptural elements, his multimedia installations create a hypnotic spatial dynamic that propels the viewer from the harsh, real world into a dizzying, fluorescent colour field. Nemes designed the project Techno Zen as an immersive, painting-based Gesamtkunstwerk that expands to other media. Laser-cut steel, car paint, enamelled steel plate, projection, DMX lights, speakers and coloured fans are the tools that he reinterprets the palette of painting with and makes the environment multisensory: its optical, acoustic and haptic content unfolds through the combined effects of light, colour, movement and sound. The project, structured in three main parts, can be fully experienced when the visitor stands in the centre of the pavilion that links left, right, front and back spaces. To be in the middle carries a symbolic meaning, it is both physical and ontological. In an era of polarized societal phenomena that exclude nuances, the project conveys a humanistic message that we, albeit its simplicity, should keep reminding ourselves of.

Amy Winehouse fans are flocking to visit the star's favourite haunts following the release of a new biopic - despite mixed reviews.

The late singer is heavily associated with the London borough of Camden, which also served as a backdrop to many scenes in the recently released 'Back to Black'.

The film has come in for criticism, with some claiming it goes too easy on Winehouse's dad Mitch and her ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

Fans revealed on Wednesday they had travelled from all over to visit Camden - with one couple having journeyed more than 700 miles from Barcelona.

Scarlet Elias, 43, came from the Spanish city with her partner Albert to see a statue of the singer - but says she refuses to watch the film.

She said: “We are huge fans. I am always looking for places with Amy Winehouse.

“I haven’t seen it because of the way it shows her father. I don’t think he treated her right. The film shouldn’t have been made in this way. It is too focused on her relationship with Blake.

“She was a good singer; it shouldn’t be about all the drugs she did.”

The bronze statue, created by Scott Eaton, was unveiled in Stables Market in 2014, three years after the singer's death.

Ayoub Achkah, 24, works serving beer next to the statue and says Winehouse brings in lots of customers.

He said: “Everyone everyday poses with that statue. People are always asking us where the statue is even though it is right in front of them.

“It brings a lot of people here for sure. They come here for the statue and end up having a beer.

“Amy Winehouse is Camden. She brought it to where it is now. It is a small statue but it is the symbol of Camden.”

Similar beliefs were held by fans who had flocked to the street art mural of Winehouse, painted by artist JXC on the back of The Hawley Arms pub.

Two students from Brighton University were visiting the mural mere moments after watching the movie on an Amy Winehouse themed tour of Camden.

The pair had conflicting opinions on the films more controversial scenes, but were in agreement that lead actress Marisa Abela had done a great job.

Lewis McClean, 20, said: “We are big fans. We have just seen the movie. We feel very conflicted about it.

“The lady who played Amy was very good, she did her justice. That is something I was worried about going in. I really liked the movie.

“She knew that she had to go through a struggle to make good music and I am glad they portrayed that. To make a good film you have to put in the juicy parts.”

Maddy Gower, 21, added: “I feel very conflicted about the father stuff. In the film they made him look like a hero.

“[And] there was a part where she says, ‘I just want to be known for what I do’ but they just showed the drugs.

“Amy is so unique, and I think the actress did a very good job.\
