A devastated family are calling for justice after their beloved pet peacock was brutally killed by an 'evil' gang of catapult-wielding youths. <br/><br/>Disturbing CCTV footage shows a group of youths as young as ten firing objects at the rescued peacock, called River, which was sitting in a tree in Boughton Monchelsea, Kent. <br/><br/>The injured bird is later seen falling to the ground before the sick youths are seen holding it aloft like a trophy, ripping its feathers out and hiding its body. <br/><br/>River's heartbroken owners Alison Carter and daughter Macey Michael-Carter, said their pet was 'one of the family'. <br/><br/>The family, who have five other peacocks, are now demanding the youths are caught and punished for killing their pet - after being ominously threatened by one of the gang who said, 'You'll be next'.<br/><br/>Alison and Macey were just about to go on holiday earlier this month when they were told River had been targeted. <br/><br/>CCTV from a neighbour’s camera shows a group of five boys and one girl, three armed with slingshots, taking turns at shooting River, who was perched in a tree. <br/><br/>Three boys are seen aiming and firing at the helpless bird 20 times from the road before climbing over the fence onto the roof of a private property to fire at the animal again.<br/><br/>The footage then captures the bright-feathered bird falling out of the tree, flapping in distress and cowering in a corner.<br/><br/>Three of the gang continue to fire at the bird after climbing onto the roof of a private property before two make their way onto the woodyard grounds. <br/><br/>One of the boys is then seen holding the peacock by its wings like a trophy, before another rips out some of its feathers. <br/><br/>Before fleeing the property, one of the gang picks up the peacock and is seen trying to hide it in a corner behind some wood. <br/><br/>\

Curse Made him Immortal for 200 Years and He Trained Himself to Find the Cure in the Amazon Forest<br/>---<br/>In 1556, Don Aguirre leads Spanish conquistadors to South America to search for the Lágrimas de Cristal Tree, whose flowers cure illness, heal injuries, lift curses, and may heal his daughter. After many conquistadors die, the Puka Michuna tribe heals the sickened survivors with the Tree's flowers. The tribal chief refuses to reveal the Tree's location, so Aguirre stabs him and burns the village. The dying chief curses the conquistadors, making them immortal but unable to leave sight of the Amazon River without the jungle dragging them back.<br/><br/>In 1916 London, Dr. Lily Houghton has her brother, McGregor, present her Tears of the Moon research to the Royal Society, which bars women members. The Houghtons hope to revolutionize both medicine and the British war effort. They request access to a recently acquired arrowhead artifact that Lily believes can locate the Tree but are denied. Lily then steals it, narrowly evading Prince Joachim, who is equally intent on finding the Tree for himself and Germany.<br/><br/>After arriving in Brazil, Lily and MacGregor hire skipper Frank Wolff to guide them down the Amazon. Frank, who offers jungle cruises embellished with faked dangers, initially declines, citing the dangerous river and jungle, but reconsiders upon seeing the arrowhead. The trio departs after escaping Joachim's submarine.<br/><br/>In Frank's cabin, Lily finds his research on the Tears of the Moon, but Frank insists he stopped searching long ago. They are captured by cannibals that are actually the Puka Michuna tribe who work for Frank as part of his contrived jungle cruise adventure. Angered, Lily distrusts Frank and sets off to find the Tree herself. Tribal chief Trader Sam translates the symbols on the arrowhead, revealing the Tree's location and that it only blooms under a blood moon.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Joachim locates the conquistadors petrified inside a cave. Partially revived, Aguirre agrees to bring Joachim the arrowhead in exchange for lifting the curse when he finds the flowers. Joachim diverts the river to flood the cave and Aguirre and his conquistadors are reanimated while fused with rainforest elements. The conquistadors attack the tribe and Aguirre stabs Frank through the heart. Lily flees with the artifact, chased by conquistadors, but the jungle vines pull them back to the river, preventing her capture.<br/><br/>To the Houghtons' amazement, Frank reappears alive. He reveals he is also a cursed conquistador. He helped search for the Tears to save Aguirre's daughter but sided with the tribe against Aguirre's brutality. After years of endless fighting, Frank trapped his vengeful comrades in the cave away from the river, petrifying them. Failing to find the Tree, Frank remained tied to the river, becoming a tour guide and building a village.<br/><br/>Lily and Frank travel to the La Luna Rota Waterfall and discover a submerged temple containing the Tree.

#BengalMonitor<br/>#Reptiles<br/>#WildlifeofPakistan<br/>#AhmadNetix<br/><br/>Today we will talk about a lizard, the Bengal Monitor that is also called the Common Indian Monitor.<br/>This monitor lizard distributed widely in the Indian Subcontinent, as well as parts of Southeast Asia and West Asia.<br/>This large lizard is mainly a terrestrial animal.<br/>Its length ranges from about 61 to 175 centimeters or 24 to 69 inches from the tip of the snout to the end of the tail.<br/>Young monitors may be arboreal but adults mainly hunt on the ground, preying mainly on arthropods but also taking small terrestrial vertebrates, ground birds, eggs and fish.<br/>The species is found in river valleys in eastern Iran, Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Burma.<br/>They are often found in agricultural areas.<br/>Bengal monitors are solitary and found on the ground, although the young are often seen on trees.<br/>Bengal monitors shelter in burrows they dig or crevices in rocks and buildings.<br/>Bengal monitors are diurnal like other monitors, becoming active around 6 AM and bask in the morning sun.<br/>During winter, they may take shelter and go through a period of reduced metabolic activity.<br/>They are not territorial and may change their range seasonally in response to food availability.<br/>They are usually shy and avoid humans.<br/>They have keen eyesight and can detect human movement nearly 250 m away.<br/>When caught, a few individuals may bite, but rarely do so.<br/>Although they are found on agricultural land, but they prefer forests with large trees.<br/>Captives have been known to live for nearly 22 years.<br/>Predators of adults include pythons, mammalian predators and birds.<br/>The main breeding season is June to September, but males begin to show combat behaviour by April.<br/>Females dig a nest hole in level ground or a vertical bank and lay the eggs inside, filling it up and using their snouts to compact the soil.<br/>They sometimes make use of a termite mound to nest.<br/>A single clutch of about 20 eggs is laid.<br/>The eggs hatch in 168 to nearly as long as 254 days.<br/>About 40 to 80 % of the eggs may hatch.<br/>They are capable of rapid movement on the ground.<br/>Small individuals may climb trees to escape, but larger ones prefer to escape on the ground.<br/>They sometimes stand on the hind legs to get a better view or when males fight other males.<br/>They can also swim well and can stay submerged for at least 17 minutes.<br/>They can use both trees and bushes for shelter.<br/>Bengal monitors tend to remain active the whole day.<br/>Large adults may ascend vertical tree trunks, where they sometimes stalk and capture roosting bats.<br/>The species is a generalist and feeds on a varied diet of invertebrates and vertebrates.<br/>Invertebrate prey mostly consists of beetles and their larvae also maggots, caterpillars, centipedes, scorpions, crabs, crayfish, snails, termites, ants, and earwigs.<br/>Larger individuals in addition to invertebrates also eat a large amount of vertebrate prey, including toads and frogs and their eggs, fish, lizards, snakes, etc.

Just outside the city center there is this park towards the river Lek. When you enter it you immediately see the park is actually a former bastion. In the middle there are the remnants of a once bigger castle Duurstede. It’s everything one can expect from a medieval castle. There’s a moat, a keep and a perfect preserved round Burgundian tower. Not the first time I’ve been there but the first time there wasn’t a lot of sunshine. As a discipline of the light I need the atmosphere around objects to be bright and dark.<br/><br/>Majestic Things<br/><br/>So there it was, the second time there was plenty of sun and for that matter also cast shadows. Next, let me tell you about a challenge each artist faces trying to capture majestic things. Buildings, trees, castles and what not can look very smallish if rendered with harsh contour delineations. The trick is to put them into context with surroundings. Therefor I didn’t fine detail the tower in order to keep it at some distance. By doing less I tried to make it appear to be larger, taking Monet’s message (Rouen series) to heart.<br/><br/>Hatched Strokes<br/><br/>Just as in the previous drawing of Veere I kept this one in my hatched strokes style. I experienced this suits me best to do landscapes and cities with. Especially in small format like A5 and A6 forms look not too small as explained in the previous paragraph. One could say these have become a style in their own right.
